GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS
The prizes will be awarded subject to the appended General Regulations and Conditions.
1. Any vehicle entering the showground on show weekend does so at the owner’s risk.
2. Paid-up members are privileged to enter one exhibit free of charge in each section.
3. All exhibits must, on the day of exhibition, be the bona fide property of the exhibitor and have been so at least a month previously and all farm and horticultural produce must be the production of the exhibitor.
4. Exhibits entered in the wrong class may be transferred to their correct class at the judge’s discretion.
Entries should only be made on the forms supplied by the Secretary.
The Committee reserves to itself the right to reject any entry or entries.
5. In no case will any prize be paid by the Society unless it is advertised.
6. While the greatest care will be taken of exhibits, the Committee will not be responsible for any accident, mistake, loss or damage from whatever cause arising, the exhibit being at the sole risk of the exhibitor.
7. During the show all exhibits will be in the custody of the Committee and may not be touched or handled by the owner or any unauthorised person without the consent of the Stewards in charge of the section. The showground will be open to the public upon the day at the hour appointed by the Committee. In no case will the exhibitors be allowed to remove their exhibits before 6.30 p.m. on the last day of the show, or at a time to be determined by the Secretary on the day.
8. No stallion will be allowed to compete against any gelding or mare unless specified.
9. An exhibit shall be eligible for a Champion prize, for which no entry is necessary.
10. The judges shall have the power to disqualify and mark as disqualified any exhibit which in their opinion does not comply with the regulations and shall enter the reason in their books. In the event of any protest or disqualification being upheld the next award in order shall take the prize.
Notice of intention to lodge a protest should be given verbally or in writing to the Chief Steward of the Section concerned as soon as possible after the judging of the class in dispute and must be submitted in writing to the Secretary, accompanied by a $20.00 deposit, no later than 8.00 p.m. on the final day of the show. Details of such protest must then be submitted in writing, complete with all necessary evidence, to the Secretary within 14 days from the final day of the show, after which the matter will be dealt with by the Committee. On receipt of any notice of intention to lodge a protest, the Secretary shall suspend all payments of prize money in the class concerned. The exhibitor, subject of the protest, may be required to make a Statutory Declaration verifying the particulars of his entry form. If the exhibitor declines to make such a Statutory Declaration, such protest will be considered to be substantiated. If the Committee decides such protest is not sustained the deposit may be forfeited. Any competitor having a protest lodged against his entry or exhibit shall be notified by the Chief Steward or the Secretary as soon as possible after the lodging of the protest. The said competitor shall then be required to return to the Secretary such prize money or trophies relative to the protest. Failure to do so within 14 days will automatically bring.
11. Upon the disqualification, suspension, or imposition of a penalty in connection with an exhibitor or an exhibit, the exhibitor concerned shall be notified by the Secretary that he has the right to appeal to the Group Appeals Board provided he exercises such rights within 7 days of the receipt by him, of the notice of disqualification, suspension, or penalty. The decision of the Group Appeals Board shall be conveyed to the Society and the exhibitor concerned, either of which shall have the right to submit the case to the General Committee of the Agricultural Societies Council which shall act as a Committee of Review and function for the purpose of recommending a reconsideration of the case or otherwise. To exercise his right of appeal an exhibitor shall within the time allotted above, deliver to the Secretary of the Society concerned, an application in writing accompanied by a fee of $4.00, requesting that the case be reviewed by the General Committee. Such application shall forthwith be forwarded to the Agricultural Societies Council. Whenever an inquiry is held by a Society or an appeal is heard by a Group Appeal Board, all parties shall be held responsible for recording of the proceedings and notation of evidence. When no appeal is lodged by an exhibitor against any penalty imposed by a Society, the Society shall inform the Group Secretary of the case for the purpose of the information being forwarded to each Society in the Group and to the Agricultural Societies Council.
12. An exhibit which, in the opinion of the Stewards may be suffering from an infectious or contagious disease shall be reported to the Secretary, who shall order its removal.
13. Any person or persons found interfering with the Judge or Judges, or who shall be guilty of unseemly conduct to any Judge, Steward or Official of the Society shall be liable to be fined, disqualified together with their exhibits, or expelled from the grounds.
14. All prizes awarded at the Show shall be payable not later than 28 days after the Show, except in cases where protests are entered. All prizes not applied for by the 31st of December of the year of the Show shall be forfeited to the Society.
15. No card of admission will be accepted by the gatekeeper unless signed by the President, Secretary or Treasurer.
16. Free Admission Tickets may be issued by the Secretary to all such persons as may be decided upon by the Committee.
17. All persons other than members shall pay admission fees at the gate.
18. Vehicles containing supplies will be admitted to the grounds free up to 10.00 a.m. but must leave the grounds as soon as unloaded or told to do so by any of the Stewards or Officials. No horse should be ridden, or vehicle driven (except in the vehicle reserve) unless competing in the show.
19. No alterations, additions or amendments to these By-laws and General Regulations shall be made unless at a meeting of the Committee. The proposed alteration, addition or amendment must be given to the Secretary in writing with 14 days’ notice. Seven (7) days’ notice of the proposed alteration, addition or amendment must be given by the Secretary to Committee members.
20. PLEASE NOTE NEW ADDITION:
(a) The Molong Show Society Committee has the power to reject any entry without showing cause
(b) The Molong Show Society reserves the right to refuse entry to the showground or to evict any person from the Show, at any time, on such grounds as may be determined by the Committee.
